As we speak, the pandemic is still going on strong. So whenever a tourist or a traveller will have to look for a place to stay, they will prioritize so many things that they didn’t bother about before. Whether it is safe enough to travel to somewhere, if that place strictly follows a protocol to prevent the spread of COVID-19, how much flexibility the hotels provide adapting to any sudden change, how fast one can get medical support from that place – these are now the primary concerns that comes to a traveller's mind.
How well the stakeholders of the travelling and tourism industry can adapt their strategies will decide whether they would fall or survive in this dire situation. While running their operations, maintaining health and safety guidance is a must. To reassure the tourists, almost all the international hotel chains have introduced numerous effective measures, such as - update cancellation policies, check-in & check-out time flexibility, and even allowing some modification up to 24 hours before arrival. Some hotels are providing 24/7 medical facilities, and their own transport facilities to the guests from airport or stations to their location.
All sorts of transports dedicated to tourism are trying their best to contain the spread of COVID-19 while travelling, by limiting number of riders, increasing capacity or number of vehicles in a route, specifying users of a vehicle, providing free mask, frequent sanitization and maintaining the basic safety measures within and outside the vehicle. Governments are bringing changes in their countries' existing policies as well as introducing new ones to make the tourists feel safe and secured. Their current objective is to clarify the restrictions while keeping the industry alive until the pandemic is over, so that the businesses associated with it can recover once again.
