Metro Rail- A dream come true

15 million people in Bangladesh are going to be blessed with the easing transportation system of metro rail. One- third of the county’s first elevated metro rail project is almost completed but we have to wait till 2030 to get this done. Can you believe that one can reach Motijheel from Uttara within an hour, to be exact 38 minutes? Unbelievable and not only that, but it is also going to carry 60000 passengers every hour through all of its stations once in every 4 minutes amounting to 960,000 people using the metro rail every single day. The 20km metro rail from Uttara to Bangladesh Bank will have 16 stops including Mirpur, Rokeya Sarani, Khamarbari, Farmgate, Sonargaon Hotel, Shahbagh, Doel Chattar and on Topkhana Road. Six coaches will be dedicated for women only, but men and women can travel together. The air-conditioned coaches are an added benefit.  The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) is proposing a fare of Tk2.4 per kilometer. Even though the bus rate is 1.7tk per kilometer but the fast service and hassle-free ride is worth the few pennies.
